50 years ago, in 1969, the iconic Zenith A386 El Primero was released as the very first automatic wristchronograph of the world (together with A384 and A385). It is not exaggerated to say that this watch is one of the most important in watchhistory. Accompanied by the fact that it is also one of the most beautifullest ever been produced, with a, still today, incomparable design. The watch we offer for sale today is one of two pieces out of our private collection. We figure with not more than 10 known A386´s in the world that have survived in comparable condition. Let´s start with the overall unpolished Mk2 case (707Dxxx) that shows the full original shape in a sharpness that drives you just crazy. This case is installed on it´s authentic Zenith/Gay Freres ladder bracelet with ZJ endlinks. We know several collectors that would do very stupid things only to get their hands on those incredibly rare endlinks. The same could be said about the original big crown and pushers. The Mk2 dial appears almost in perfection, with unscratched, strong colored subdials and beautiful original tritium indicies laying on a flawless white base. The main handset with matching tritium lume as well as the authentic subdial hands are in top condition. The red secondhand is an original Zenith part which may have been built into this watch at a service a long time ago. And as it´s lume color fits perfectly, we have decided to leave it just as we bought it years ago. Still we are happy to be able to deliver a very rare and authentic tritium redhand with. So if someone would want his watchmaker to install that 50 year old second hand, he will be able to do so. The tachybezel with hooked 7, is missing some color at around 2 o´clock and apart from that it is also flawless. the zenith engraved el primero 3019 phc has been serviced about half a year ago by our el primero specialised watchmaker and is running perfectly in all functions. Alltogether this A386 is the one to go for, if you were ever searching for an exceptional good example.
