this is a rare Audemars piguet royal oak Quartz in the Jumbo steel execution (Ref. 6005ST) from 1980. In the mid to late 1970s, after the huge impact of Gerald Genta´s royal Oak 5402, and when quartz movements became more en vogue than mechanical calibers, ap released a series of rectangular royal oaks in three different sizes. the largest number was produced in steel and gold and much less in gold only, but by far the fewest examples were produced in steel only. our example appears to be unpolished with a clearly readable engraved B-series number, and carries a 100% flawless „small tappisserie“ dial with old audemars piguet font, the bracelet has almost no stretch. the original „button-crown“ (pull to set the hour, press internal button to set the minute) works perfectly, just as the ap quartz caliber 2511 does. the watch will fit wrists up to a range of 18,5 cm and can be sized down by taking links out. the 6005st comes with an extract of the ap archives and a vintage ap box.
