This is a very rare Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Mariner Chronometre, reference 24001-42. This luxury ‘Sport Chic’ watch was launched in 1973, shortly after the AP Royal Oak 5402 and three years before the Patek Nautilus 3700. The Master Mariner shares familiar design features with both watches, such as the Jalousin dial (years before the Nautilus) and the angular, bold case. The JLC chronometer is powered by the iconic 906 automatic calibre with seconds stop function. This movement is also found, for example, in the Vacheron Constantin Chronometre Royal, Ref. 42001.
The JLC is in completely unmodified condition and comes with all its original parts. The 37mm steel case and the integrated steelbracelet are still completely unpolished and show some signs of wear. There are a few small scratches on the mineral crystal as well, but the dial itself is in wonderful condition. The watch fits wrists up to a circumference of 19cm. The JLC 906 has been thoroughly checked and is running flawlessly and strongly in all functions. A rare opportunity to get your hands on a really rare and maybe the last underrated Luxury steelwatch with integrated bracelet from the mid 1970s.
