this is a rare and outstandingly beautiful Jaeger LeCoultre Club from 1968 with a 27mm case in 18k yellowgold and tonneau-shape. The JLC has never been polished up to date. This is very rare for such an old goldwatch and delivers a magical uncomparable and unreplacebale appeal. The clean lemon-dial features four onyx stones and gives the rather classic shape a sporty, elegant touch. We were able to acquire it from the first owner, a gentleman in Italy, who only wore it on sundays or on special occasions since the acquisition in the late 1960s. It´s handwound caliber 1900/01 has recently been serviced and runs exactly. The rare JLC Club comes with a fresh extract of the JLC archives and a beautiful vintage lizzard leatherband with golden JLC buckle.
The Jaeger Le Coultre Club series was launched at the end of the 1960s as an analogue competitor to the increasingly successful rise of quartz watches in the industry. It is, so to speak, the counter-movement that has become a watch and thus a last stand against the unstoppable triumph of quartz watches. The portfolio of the series includes hand-wound and automatic watches, in steel as well as in gold. At the time, the Club series was characterised by bolder and sportier designs than JLC was used to at the time.
