This is a Glycine Airman from the 1960s in mint condition. The Airman was developed at the suggestion of pilot Chat Brown for frequent flyers in the 1950s and became an iconic tool watch thanks to its 24-hour dial, lockable rotating bezel for displaying multiple time zones, and robustness. It was used by U.S. Air Force pilots during the Vietnam War and also traveled into space in 1965 on the wrist of NASA astronaut Pete Conrad during the Gemini 5 mission.
Our Airman is in wonderful, unmodified original condition and comes with an unworn vintage NOS Airman leather strap. The 36mm steel watch, with the reference 314050, is powered by a Glycine automatic movement that has very good accuracy and runs perfectly. The matte black dial and hands feature the original tritium. The small hacking needle between 2 and 4 of the number 24 is missing, like usual for very most vintage Airman´s. The Airman is a pilot’s watch that will always be an icon of watch history thanks to its 24-hour display and exceptional design. We also deliver a second leatherstrap with, so a collector could put the vintage Airman-band to the side and still wear it with the same look.
