this is a very rare AP royal oak 14790st with old aligned „audemars piguet“ font printed on the dial. only the very first d-series around 1992 of the midsize version are carrying this dial, and they are incredibly hard to source. the 36mm case (+crown) wears even bigger than you would expect, regarding it´s 46,3mm high monocase construction. This royal oak is absolutely comparable to the 5402 d-series in relations and design, only that it has a second hand in addition. we see this execution as the perfect vintage royal oak, in case the iconic 5402 may be too huge for you, or may have just become too pricey (latest auction result for an A-series at phillips was over 100k chf). our example is even 100% unpolished, and especially if it is about gerald genta´s design-homage to steelwatches, this fact is a very relevant one. the original bracelet has zero stretch, lume on dial and in the hands is the original tritium one from the early 90s. the ap 2225 automatic caliber is running exactly and is not in the need for a service. the watch comes in an audemars piguet leather box.
